Rice Annual Fund Student Initiative
Through the Rice Annual Fund Student Initiative (RAFSI), students learn about the vital role of philanthropy at Rice. RAFSI is a student-led volunteer group that promotes the importance and impact of giving and raises awareness to create a culture of philanthropy on campus.RAFSI volunteers meet to plan events and demonstrate how donors to Rice enhance daily campus life and help build a stronger future for the university. On-campus events include:
- Senior Class Gift
- National Philanthropy Week,
- Jar Wars
RAFSI’s mission is to engage fellow students in meaningful conversations about philanthropy and to prepare them to give back to their communities as well as to Rice.
Senior Class Gift
The Senior Class Gift combines Rice’s spirit of competition and the culture of philanthropy to create a campaign that culminates in one gift to Rice from the graduating class. While still inside the hedges, seniors learn about the importance of giving back to Rice while ensuring that current and future students receive the same high-quality education they received. The campaign focuses on five-weeks in October and November, wherein senior students from each college donate any amount to achieve the highest numbers in participation and dollars raised.
