The Golden Anniversary Scholarship program is a five-year effort by a class between its 45th and 50th reunions. The goal is to raise funds to endow a scholarship named in honor of the 50th reunion of the class. Volunteer positions include:
Golden Anniversary Class Chairman
This position provides leadership and direction for the project. Responsibilities include recruiting a committee, leading committee meetings, writing semi-annual solicitation letters to the class, and working with program staff in soliciting leadership gifts. The chairman is expected to pledge a gift before soliciting others. The term is five years, and the time commitment is weighted toward start–up efforts in the first summer of the term.
Golden Anniversary Committee
Each committee member is responsible for soliciting as many as 12 classmates during the project and for attending committee meetings. Volunteers need to feel comfortable asking classmates to contribute to this scholarship. Committee members are expected to pledge or to make special gifts before soliciting others. The term is five years, and the average time commitment is eight hours during each November and April of the project.
