The NEW Rice Annual Fund Scholars Program
In line with the university-wide Initiative for Students, there is now a way to strengthen your connection with today’s students while you support their hard work and talent: the new Rice Annual Fund Scholars program. This enhanced program makes it possible for you, with a four-year pledge, to be paired with a student for all four years of his or her Rice education and to connect with your student through annual meet-and-greet events.
RAF Scholar Sustainer
$40,000 four-year pledge with $10,000 annual payments*
Rice Annual Fund Scholar Sustainers who make a four-year commitment to the Annual Fund are paired with a first-year student who will remain their scholar through graduation. This personalized experience, fostered through opportunities to meet with their student and commemorated with a beautifully designed scholarship scroll, creates a connection between Sustainers and students for the duration of their Rice undergraduate experience.
RAF Scholar Supporter
$10,000+ annual gift*
Rice Annual Fund Scholar Supporters are paired with a Rice student for the year and have the opportunity to meet them and learn about today’s student experience firsthand.
Donors who make a $5,000 annual gift* to the Rice Annual Fund will have the opportunity to connect with students in a group setting at meet-and-greet events.
*Including matching gifts.
Current-use scholarships: a powerful impact today
Undergraduate scholarships raised through the Rice Annual Fund play a vital role in maintaining Rice’s commitment to accessibility each year. Roughly 73 percent of scholarship aid offered to Rice students each year is provided by sources other than endowments, so, while both endowed and current-use gifts are crucial to funding 100 percent of students’ demonstrated need, Rice Annual Fund scholarships are critical to sustaining this commitment every year.
Annual Fund scholarships also have an immediate and powerful impact, as a current-use scholarship gift of $10,000 to the Rice Annual Fund is equivalent to the annual distribution of a $200,000 endowment.
Growing Demand for Financial Aid
Your support of the RAF Scholars program will allow us to continue to attract and educate the best and the brightest students, regardless of need.
The Initiative for Students
The Rice Annual Fund and the RAF Scholars program are critical to the success of the Initiative for Students, Rice’s university-wide effort to increase scholarship funding, support on-campus research and teaching excellence, and give students access to internships and hands-on educational experiences.
