A Defining Tradition, Reimagined
Beer Bike has long been a highly anticipated and beloved part of the Rice experience — bringing together students, alumni and the broader community in a tradition defined by competition and connection. Beginning in summer 2026, Rice will begin a permanent relocation of the Beer Bike track to a new, purpose-built site at the Harris Bayou Recreation Area.
A Campus in Motion
The Gateway Project represents a significant transformation of Rice’s campus, enhancing community spaces and elevating the student experience. As these improvements take shape, the current Beer Bike location will be reimagined as part of this broader vision. This moment creates a unique opportunity to put Beer Bike where it belongs — at the heart of campus life.

The new Beer Bike venue will be located at the Harris Bayou Recreation Area, placing it within prime central campus space. Extensive collaboration and site vetting have ensured that the relocation strengthens both the event and its surrounding environment.
