- What donations are eligible to receive socks?
-
Anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more to the university by June 30 — via the unique online donation form at riceconnect.rice.edu/ricesocks or via the mailed sock donation pledge form — will receive a pair of limited-edition Rice socks. Donations can be designated to anywhere at Rice, including to the Rice Annual Fund.
- Who is eligible to receive socks?
-
All Rice alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends.
- What portion of the donation is tax deductible?
-
For donations under $58.50, the fair market value of the item will reduce the tax deductibility of the donation, in accordance with federal tax regulations. If anyone wishes to ensure their full gift is tax deductible, they may either make a gift of $58.50 or greater, or they may decline the socks by selecting the “I wish to decline my gift” checkbox on their donation form.
- What if a donor has already made a gift this year? Will the donor receive a pair of socks?
-
Donors who have donated $25 or more to Rice this fiscal year and are unable to make an additional gift during this time period may email giving@rice.edu to request a pair of socks.
- Can Rice ship the socks to a donor’s relative/friend/student?
-
For fulfillment purposes, socks will only be sent to the donor’s primary address on file.
- When will donors receive socks?
-
Socks will be delivered 4-6 weeks.
- How can a donor get more than one pair of socks? For example, if one donates $50, will the donor receive two pairs of socks?
-
We are only sending one pair of socks per household, no matter the size of the gift, in appreciation of our donors’ generosity.
- How will receipting work?
-
Mailed receipts will be sent out soon after a donor makes their donation.
- What happens if a donor has heard about this from a friend and reaches out on their own via phone or email?
-
In order to receive a pair of socks, a donor must give through our unique donation form or through our mailed pledge form. Feel free to email any inquiries to giving@rice.edu.
